BARACUTA - A PIECE OF FASHION HISTORY FROM MANCHESTER

Baracuta jackets have become a piece of fashion history since their introduction. Founded in 1937, this traditional British company opened its first factory in Manchester and has been the epitome of Made in England ever since. More than 70 years later the British label Baracuta was taken over by the makers of Woolrich with the aim of expanding the collection around the famous G9 jacket and its smaller sister G4 in the style of the traditional label. Since its foundation, the brand has stood for the best quality and premium materials. Above all, it sells the Harrington jacket in the G4 and G9 models. Baracuta's weatherproof clothing became popular in the mid-1940s, primarily through the distribution of print ads featuring the face of Lord Lovat, who was one of Britain's most famous soldiers and commanders. This contributed to the growing success of the company and so the jackets were also exported to the USA and Canada in 1950. In the meantime, the British brand is known and loved around the globe.

BARACUTA - THE ICONIC HARRINGTON G9 JACKET

The label achieved worldwide fame through its jackets with the model number G9. The origin of the name Harrington, which is characteristic for this cut, goes back to the series Peyton Place. Here the iconic G9 jacket was a faithful companion of the fictional character Rodney Harrington. The characteristic stand-up collar with two buttons and the lining with a check pattern were already very popular in the early days of the Harrington G9 and have been kept until today. The blouson also provides protection against wind and weather. The great popularity of the G9 is also reflected in the wide variety of straps. In the beginning, the iconic jacket was worn by subcultures like punks, rockabillys, mods and skas. Meanwhile, the Harrington is found in the broad masses. The original Harrington jacket is a statement of men's fashion, has been copied many times over the years, but never surpassed.

BARACUTA - THE LABEL WITH TRADITION

The popular Pieces of Baracuta dressed icons like Steve McQueen, Elvis Presley, Frank Sinatra and Daniel Craig from the very beginning. But also the English national team wore Baracuta raincoats in the year of the 1966 World Cup victory. Over the years, collections for different sports were created. For example, the British label launched a series of golf jackets in cooperation with Arnold Palmer. The cooperation with famous personalities became almost a tradition and so other greats like Tom Gilbey or Kenichi Kusano joined the line. By working with different designers Baracuta was able to create jackets in different styles and materials. From functional fibres, wool to leather, different variations are available. Despite this abundance of different models, one aspect remained the same for all products - the outstanding quality. The timeless jackets, which were already worn more than 70 years ago, are extremely changeable. So they can be casually combined with jogging pants and sneakers or jeans, hoodie and boots. Also an elegant mix with shirt and fabric pants is possible with the jackets from Baracuta. WAVE offers you a wide range of high quality Baracuta products.
